Set along a meandering coastline, where the grasslands meet the sea, Sonnet is an ode to romanticism. When scouting for a location, the Northern New South Wales coastline came straight to mind as it is the perfect mix of ocean scenery and endless grassy fields. This location is not only close to home but close to our hearts as we often spend our weekends in this beautiful part of the world.
The week leading up to the shoot was spent scouting locations along the northern New South Wales coast and organising a huge array of florals - a key element of our Sonnet shoot. We gathered a beautiful mix of pinks, purples, whites and burgundy wildflowers to pair back with the range. We had also sourced two of our favourite styling items to date: the Lee Mathews ‘Magic Hat’ and Carrie Forbes Woven Raffia Slides.
On the morning of the shoot, as we were on our way to pick up our model Sara from the airport, grey clouds filled the sky. We were hopeful it would pass and continued to the location. The cloud cover was thick at the start of our shoot which made for diffused light - we love the way this comes up on film. About an hour later and the clouds parted and the sun began to shine.
The team for the day consisted of our photographer Tess Leopold shooting on film (sadly no Bowie girl for cuddles this time), the beautiful Sara Ramen from Priscillas and Becky plus myself from the peony team.
Sara had gorgeous glowy skin and thick luscious locks so we kept hair and makeup completely natura. We brushed up her eyebrows and popped her hair in a middle part. We got Sara in her first look for the day, our Fields Balconette + Staple Pant paired with the most stunning bunch of fuchsia florals.
We spent the morning running around the grassy fields, styling each look with various wildflowers before having a little picnic under the trees to escape the midday heat. After refuelling and rehydrating, we moved to our next location which was a short drive up the road. When we arrived, we were so excited to see that the field (which earlier in the week was luscious and green) had bloomed with hundreds of purple flowers - we couldn’t believe our luck. We popped Sara in our Blossom bikini which paired beautifully.
The day had flown by and it was already time to drop Sara back to the airport. We said our goodbyes, so grateful for the amazing day we had and (as always) excited to receive the film back.
We hope you love Sonnet as much as we do. Enjoy! x
