Step inside our beloved head office and studio, peony House. Nestled at the mouth of Tallebudgera Valley in Queensland, this warm sun-filled space is where our boutique Australian brand calls home.
In the early days of the brand, our small team worked from a small converted home garage. It was cosy at best of times, we shared a $29 printer between three of us (which had seemingly never ending connection issues!) and the midsummer sun radiated through the tin garage door heating the space like an oven. This was the beginning of our journey together. While our memories of this space are fond ones, we quickly outgrew its four walls (and the house around it) and realised it was time we found somewhere for peony to call its own.
After months of searching, we came across an old abandoned yoga studio at the mouth of Tallebudgera Valley. It didn't really lend itself well to an office space. It was extremely run down, there were no power points and all the windows were fixed shut due to their old age. Despite it's shortcomings, the place had old-worldly charm and we quickly recognised its potential. It was open plan, bright, with original Australian Crows Ash timber floors and tall windows which flooded the space with natural light.
We gave it a fresh coat of paint in the perfect shade of off-white (we used half strength Dulux White Cloak Quarter), added timber plantation shutters to titrate the light, unstuck the timber windows to let the breeze in, gave the floors good sand, lacquer and polish and added vertical join boards to the walls.
Once the space was complete, it was time for us to style and fit out the space - our Pinterest boards were overflowing with ideas and inspiration. We had forever been lusting over the dreamer sofa by Australian brand Pop & Scott and knew it was the perfect lounge to add comfort and style to our showroom area (for those who have been asking, ours is the Standard size in natural linen). After months of looking, we sourced the most beautiful vintage mid century coffee table with rattan rack underneath for all our lookbooks and magazines. For a touch of texture and warmth, we added a huge jute woven rug and two sling chairs in Blush from Barnaby Lane.
Our days spent here are a dream with sun spilling through the shutters and fresh air flowing through the windows. As if that all wasn't enough, peony House is only a five minute drive to the beach (perfect for lunch time swims in the heat of summer) and it's opposite the best coffee in the area.
We couldn't be happier to call peony House home.

Thread tape measure under your arms, around your back and across the fullest part of your bust. Once you have the tape measure lined up, relax your arms at either side
Your natural waistline is the narrowest part of your waist, above your belly button and below your rib cage. Run the tape measure around your waist (like a belt), keeping it straight.
Stand on a level surface with your feet together. Measure the fullest part of your bottom and upper thighs, not around your hip bones. Ensure the tape is straight around your body.
If you don't have a measuring tape, you can use a piece of string and then measure the string length with a ruler. Tape should be horizontal all around, and fit close to the body. These are tips to measure your body, not the garment.
