Mallorca Travel Guide

Postcards,
Our Guide to
Mallorca

Last year, in the middle of the Australian winter, we traded grey skies for the sunlit shores of Mallorca. It was a spontaneous trip to shoot our Spring Summer campaign that quickly became something more. Between shoot days, we allowed ourselves to slow down and reset — two mums, without our kids, with nowhere to be. A rare kind of freedom, and one we didn’t take for granted. Long lunches stretched into golden sunsets, hidden coves revealed themselves when we least expected, and local recommendations led us to places we might never have discovered otherwise.

From the vibrant energy of the south to the quieter, mountain-framed west around Sóller, this is the Mallorca we came to know and fall in love with.

Palma
The South Side

Palma is where old-world charm meets an effortless coastal rhythm. Think tiled streets, linen dresses, and late afternoons that turn into evenings without notice.

Where to Eat & Drink

L’Aurora
Possibly our favourite restaurant of the trip. Tucked away in the quiet village of S’Alqueria Blanca, it’s well worth the short drive. The setting is incredibly romantic, with towering, mature trees and dappled light filtering across the courtyard. A beautiful wine list, seasonal dishes, and an atmosphere that invites you to linger all afternoon.

La Gran Tortuga
Perched above the sea in Cala Fornells, this is dining with a view. Arrive for a late lunch and stay through sunset. The horizon feels endless here, and time seems to soften.

Where to Swim & Beach Clubs

Cala Comtesa
Clear, calm waters and soft white sand, ideal for an easy morning swim.

Cala Llombards
A local favourite with turquoise water framed by rugged cliffs.

Caló del Moro & S’Almunia
Wild and untouched, these coves feel like hidden gems. It’s best to arrive early.

Beach Club Gran Folies
A more polished beach day with sunbeds, cocktails, and a relaxed sense of indulgence.

Sa Foradada
Less about swimming and more about the moment. Come for the sunset and stay for dinner overlooking the sea.

Where to Stay

Hotel Can Cera
A restored 17th-century palace in the heart of Palma’s old town. Quiet, refined, and beautifully designed, it’s the perfect retreat after a day in the city.

Concepció by Nobis
Modern yet warm, this boutique stay blends Scandinavian design with Mediterranean ease. A calm, elevated base just moments from Palma’s best streets.

Sóller
The West Side

Nestled between mountains and sea, the west side feels slower, calmer, and deeply connected to nature. It quickly became our favourite part of the island. Days seemed to unfold at an unhurried pace, shaped by dramatic mountain landscapes, charming villages, and the rhythm of the sea.

Where to Eat & Drink

Bar Bodega Biniaraix
A rustic favourite tucked into the hills, known for simple food, local wine, and a truly authentic feel.

Patiki Beach
An easy, sun-drenched lunch spot by the water. Relaxed, vibrant, and perfect after a morning swim.

Blai Bar
Casual and lively, ideal for a drink and small bites as the evening settles in.

Pueblo Sóller
This one is in the heart of Soller town and not to be missed. The most beautiful authentic food, ambient lighting and charming outdoor terrace area.

What to Do

Tram to Port de Sóller
A must-do experience. The vintage wooden tram winds its way from town to the port, offering a slow and scenic journey.

Port de Sóller
We spent a full day here exploring, swimming, and scouting locations. It has a beautiful balance of energy and calm.

Consell Flea Market (Sunday)
A local treasure worth arriving early for.

Valldemossa
A short drive away, this mountain village feels like stepping into another time, with stone houses, winding streets, and breathtaking views.

Where to Stay

Ca’n Puig de Sóller
This is where we stayed in Soller. It's charming and intimate, right in the heart of town offering a true local experience.

Hotel Corazón
One of our favourite spots. Tucked away and slightly off the beaten path, it has a lively, energetic atmosphere and serves incredible spicy margaritas. A hidden gem, beautifully surrounded by nature.

Jumeirah Port Sóller Hotel & Spa
For something more elevated, this clifftop hotel offers panoramic views over the sea, with a serene and luxurious feel.

Mallorca is a place that lingers in the light, in the landscape, and in the feeling you carry long after you leave. For us, it became the perfect backdrop to Clair De Lune, soft, romantic, and quietly captivating.
