Cydney Morris

Portraits,
Introducing
Cydney Morris

Early this year, in the heat of the Australian summer, we spent time with designer, mother and dear friend Cydney Morris while she was visiting family for the holidays.

We have long admired Cyd’s personal style — she’s a vintage curator, adept at styling classics and heirloom pieces in a way that feels anything but ordinary. We chatted about her favourite peony picks, community, motherhood and finding joy in the small things.

On Sundays we will find you...

Sundays are family days around here. Farmers market, good coffees, long walks, cooking long warm meals for an early dinner at home with a really good wine.

What inspires you? Where do you find joy?

I think I have a bit of an old soul, so searching for something that has a past life or tells a story. My kids- they changed my life and bring me joy everyday. They inspire me to wake up and be a great example for them.

What has been your biggest source of strength during this time? What has felt most supportive or soothing?

I think after the fires my biggest strength was my beautiful friends being there for me even just to make me laugh. In my mind, reminding myself  to find the positive things in life when it changed so quickly and really trying to look at the bigger picture. Also decorating, I just love interiors so I dove right in and furnished a new house and had so much fun with it. Brought me a lot of joy!

What has it been like balancing motherhood? Any moments or learnings that come to mind?

I think when I had my first child I found it to be a real struggle to work -and be a mom. Leaning into that combo was hard for me to figure out how to balance. Once I had my second I just decided to give into motherhood, learned you truly cannot do it all and that’s OK. They really showed me the essence of time and how fast it goes so even when everything is chaos I just grab onto them tighter.
